Arches of the Hand
1. Longitudinal arch: Courses the length of the hand. The dorsal convexity of the metacarpal and phalanges forms this arch
2. Proximal transverse arch: Courses across the hand, proximally. Formed by the base of the metacarpals being less wide volarly than dorsally
3. Distal transverse arch: Courses across the hand, distally. At the level of the metacarpal heads and is also a dorsal convexity
